Botanic Materia Medica
CURATION. Hand harvested from Himalayan glacier-fed terrains and mineral-rich uncontaminated forest soil, the artisanal element is intentional and powerful. Ingredients are pounded in “okhlis” and flowers are steam distilled in a wood fired factory free workshop. The traditional Indian “ghani” cold press technique is instrumental in extracting our incredible oils. We employ the clean and green method of CO2 supercritical extraction so the planet and our people are not exposed to noxious gases or harsh solvents.
FORMULATIONS. Nestled in the picturesque, verdant Pune hills, our Ayurvedic workshop is where we carefully compose our recipes in consultations with Ayurvedic doctors. All formulations are created by Kavita Khosa, honouring ancient wellness principles and indigenous knowledge. She is a firm believer in time-hounoured remedies. For instance, Himalayan women have used apricot oil for centuries - apparent in the strength of their hair and suppleness of skin. Our serene, sunlit studio and lab is filled with the sounds of sacred, ancient chants as we lovingly concoct and formulate our hand made creations. Surrounded by a micro herb garden where we plant heirloom seeds, recycle and vermin compost, it is not unusual for a waft of cinnamon or neroli to greet visitors.
